by | Jun 15, 2023 | Fundraisers & Events, News & Advocacy

Washtenaw ACA is thrilled to invite you to our upcoming series of community stakeholder meetings focused on empowering individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) in Washtenaw County to participate fully in community life. These meetings aim to gather valuable insights, ideas, and perspectives from stakeholders like you. Led by Washtenaw ACA Board Chair Sandee Koski, these meetings promise to be engaging and thought-provoking, fostering a spirit of collaboration and understanding.

Join us for one of four enlightening evenings of listening, discussion, and collective action! Attend any of the four if you cannot make it for your immediate community. We look forward to hearing from you then!

Saline Meeting

Date: June 21 Time: 6:30-8pm
Venue: Saline District Library

Our first meeting will take place at the Saline District Library on June 21 from 6:30 to 8pm. The library provides a welcoming and inclusive space to gather and engage in meaningful conversations about supporting individuals with IDD. This meeting will serve as an excellent platform for Saline area community members to share their experiences, concerns, and suggestions regarding the active involvement of individuals with IDD in community life.

ACA Meeting Series

Dexter Meeting

Date: June 27 Time: 6:30pm Venue: Dexter UMC Cafe

Next on our agenda is the Dexter Meeting, scheduled for June 27 at 6:30pm. Hosted at the Dexter UMC Cafe, in the United Methodist Church on Huron River Dr, this meeting offers a warm and inviting atmosphere for productive discussions. We recognize the importance of hearing diverse perspectives and ideas, and this meeting will allow stakeholders to come together and brainstorm effective strategies to support individuals with IDD in their active participation within the community.

Ann Arbor Meeting

Date: To Be Determined (TBD) Location: To Be Determined (TBD)

We are excited to announce that an Ann Arbor Meeting is also in the works. Although the date and location are yet to be determined, we are actively working to secure a suitable venue within the heart of Ann Arbor. This meeting will provide an opportunity for individuals, organizations, and professionals interested in IDD advocacy and support to unite and contribute to the conversation. Stay tuned for updates on the specific date and location, as we look forward to your participation.

Ypsilanti Meeting

Date: To Be Determined (TBD) Location: To Be Determined (TBD)

As with the Ann Arbor Meeting, we’re taking lessons from the Saline and Dexter meetings before finalizing a date and location for the Ypsilanti Meeting. We recognize the significance of including the diverse perspectives of the Ypsilanti community and hope to create an inclusive platform for dialogue and collaborative problem-solving. We eagerly anticipate your presence at this meeting once the details are confirmed.

Washtenaw ACA is committed to promoting the full participation of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Washtenaw County’s vibrant community life. Through our upcoming series of community stakeholder meetings, we seek to harness the collective wisdom and ideas of passionate individuals like you. Led by our esteemed Board Chair, Sandee Koski, these meetings will provide a space for listening, discussion, and the formulation of actionable strategies. Mark your calendars for the Saline Meeting and the Dexter Meeting, and stay tuned for updates on the Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti Meetings. Together, we can make a meaningful difference and create a more inclusive community for all.
